Blacksmithing: Axe Making
Immerse yourself in the art of axe making with our comprehensive Two-Day Axe Making Experience.
This hands-on workshop takes you through the entire process of crafting your own custom hand-forged hatchet from start to finish.
Day 1: Design and Forge
Begin your journey by learning the fundamentals of hatchet design and head geometry.
Heat, hammer, and shape your hatchet head under the guidance of our expert blacksmith, using both traditional forging techniques and modern aides (like a power hammer!) to create a tool that is uniquely yours.
Day 2: Grind, Polish, and Finish
Refine your hatchet head through precise grinding, ensuring a balanced edge suited for chopping and splitting.
Polish and sharpen your hatchet head to achieve a sharp, durable finish.
Customize your hatchet by shaping and fitting a handle, adding the final touches to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing tool as well as laser engraving to add a personal touch.
Throughout the workshop, our skilled instructor will provide personalized guidance and support, ensuring you gain valuable skills and a deeper appreciation for the craft. By the end of the experience, you’ll leave with a beautifully crafted hatchet, ready for use and a lasting memento of your time in our forge.
Join us for this unique and rewarding adventure and discover the satisfaction of creating a hatchet with your own hands.
This class allows you or your loved one to walk away with a finely crafted hatchet, perfect for outdoor adventures or woodworking projects. Plus, enjoy a delightful light lunch as a bonus treat during your visit.
